Preserving the Past, Shaping the Future: My Time on the Los Altos History Museum Board

My tenure on the board of the Los Altos History Museum has come to an end, and I’m genuinely saddened to say goodbye to the regular gatherings with a group of people so passionate about preserving the history of Los Altos and sharing all that our town has to offer with residents, newcomers, and future generations. I’m also proud of what we accomplished in just a few short years.

This little gem of Los Altos is no longer its best-kept secret.

During my three years on the board, we worked diligently to raise the visibility of the museum’s rotating and new permanent exhibits, its beautiful gardens—which, in my humble opinion, is the best wedding venue in town—and the historic J. Gilbert Smith House. We also celebrated with the wonderful “Dancing through the Decades” fundraisers.

What impacted me most was helping school-age children connect with the museum as a place of learning and fun. As a father of three children in Los Altos schools, I naturally fostered these connections, leading to events like the fall 'Pumpkins and Popsicles' and the Christmas 'Photos with Santa' at the J. Gilbert Smith House.

As I pass the torch, I’m proud to have served as the board liaison for the nominating committee, welcoming new board members who will guide the museum into its next chapter. You can read about their appointment in the recent press release here. I congratulate each of them and look forward to seeing the museum continue to thrive in our community.
